Legacy system rescue · Fixed-scope Phase 1

Move your Access or Excel workflow to the web, one useful piece at a time.

When orders, jobs, quotes or customer records live in a fragile file, a full rewrite can feel risky. Phase 1 gives you a map of the old system and one working web workflow without switching off the file your team uses today.

Discuss your workflow ↗

Fixed Phase 1 fee agreed before work starts. 50% to start, 50% at handover.

Built for the file no one can afford to break.

Only one or two people know the formulas, forms or VBA behind it.

Copies get emailed around or the file slows down as users grow.

The team needs browser or phone access, but replacing everything at once is too risky.

What Phase 1 delivers

A working start, not just a discovery deck.

01

System map

We review tables, queries, forms, reports, VBA and formulas to document the rules your team relies on.

02

Data model

A clean database design for the web version, with a tested import of your existing data.

03

One working workflow

Your most-used screen or process rebuilt as a secure web app with logins and real data.

04

Plan for the rest

A prioritized list of remaining screens and reports, with a fixed price for each next piece.

The process

Keep the old system running.

Nothing is switched off until you decide. Your team owns the data and chooses whether to continue after Phase 1.

  1. 1. Show us the workflow. A 30-minute call around the file and the process it runs.
  2. 2. Agree scope. We prepare a one-page fixed-scope proposal for Phase 1.
  3. 3. Build and hand over. We map the system, test a data import, build the first workflow and walk your team through it. The target build is about two weeks once scope is agreed.

Founder-led engineering

Talk to the people building it.

Kubes is a small engineering team. We use AI tooling to help inspect old VBA, macros and formulas, then verify the behavior with your team. We do not claim the file can be migrated without inspection.
